Contextual Internal Links & External Links in SEO | How to Rank Higher in Google | 7boats

One of the most important aspects of SEO is linking. Both external and internal links are essential for improving your website’s rankings and visibility. External links are links from other websites to your own. They help to show search engines that your site is popular and relevant. Internal links are links from your own website to other pages on your site. They help search engines to crawl and index your website more effectively. When adding links to your website, be sure to use relevant keywords and phrases. This will help search engines to understand what your website is about and improve its ranking.

Why Contextual Links Matter For SEO | WP Learning Lab

A contextual link is a link that is within your article. It usually has anchor text instead of a plain URL.

These links can be used to interlink content on your website or link out to other websites.

As far as SEO goes, Google links to see you interlink to related content on your site and it likes to see you link to related authority sites.

You can add a nofollow tag these contextual links. There’s a big debate in SEO is about whether to use nofollow or not. Here’s the skinny on the debate.

For every page that Google encounters it calculates a Page Rank. The higher the Page Rank the more ranking power that page has.

If you can get a ‘follow’ link from a high PR page you can rank almost any page on your website on the first page very quickly. However, if that same link is set to ‘nofollow’ then it has very little effect on your rankings.

What happens is that using ‘follow’ shares your page’s Page Rank with the page you’re linking to. If you use ‘nofollow’ then no Page Rank is shared.

The debate is about which one is better: horde your Page Rank or share it.

Google wants it to the be shared, so they like to see all your links WITHOUT the nofollow attribute.

Also, the majority of websites have a Page Rank of zero, so they’re not sharing any Page Rank when they link out.

Which one you use is up to you, but at the moment I choose to use only ‘follow’ links. I may change my mind if the google algorithm changes.

Are Nofollow Links A Google Ranking Factor?
“Nofollow” isn’t just a funny-sounding term SEO professionals use to sound more mysterious.
Nofollow is an HTML attribute that’s been around for 14 years.
At its most basic, nofollow is a hyperlink attribute that tells Google to not pass PageRank so Google doesn’t even crawl nofollowed links.
You can control the nofollowing of any links on your site (whether those are to external sites or internal pages) with the simple addition of the nofollow attribute.

There are also nofollowed links that are out of your control – when another site links to you, but has marked it up as a nofollowed link.
But is there any connection between nofollowed links and rankings?
It turns out there is a lot of confusion on this topic.
Let’s get to the bottom of it all.
The Evidence For Nofollow Links As A Ranking Factor.
Google introduced the nofollow link attribute in 2005 to help website owners fight off spam.
